Insulated Patio Roofs
Dynamic Thermal Performance of Insulated Roof Systems ABSTRACT: The Large Scale Climate Simulator at the DOE-sponsored Roof Research Center has been used to provide data for a comparison of the thermal resistance of three common roof insulations over an extended range of temperatures using two different techniques; one steady state and the other transient. The insulations are fiberglass, expanded polystyrene (EPS), and phenolic foam board. R-values are determined for temperatures ranging from 10/degree/F to 130/degree/F. Results from the two techniques are in agreement with one another and both are within 5 percent of reference values for the insulations. The testing illustrates the flexibility of the Large Scale Climate Simulator. 8 refs., 11 figs., 1 tab. ComparisOn of the dynamic thermal performance of insulated roof systems, 1989
Heating Comfort Options
- Patio Heaters: These standalone units are effective for heating small areas and are typically powered by electricity or propane. They create a cozy atmosphere, encouraging extended outdoor enjoyment.
- Fire Pits: A popular choice for many homeowners, fire pits not only provide heat but also serve as a social gathering spot. They add an element of ambiance to any outdoor setting.
- Outdoor Fireplaces: For a more permanent solution, outdoor fireplaces can be carefully designed to blend with your overall patio aesthetic. They offer significant heat output and durability, making them ideal for long-term use.
- Retractable Shade Canopies: Pairing a heat source with a system like R-SHADE™ allows homeowners to retract or extend weather protection as conditions change, keeping the warmth in and the wind and precipitation out.
Heating Solutions
Patio Heaters can be portable and easily stored away during the summer, providing flexibility without sacrificing warmth.
Fire Pits can be custom designed, serving as a centerpiece for social gatherings.
Outdoor Fireplaces offer both warmth and a graceful focal point, complemented by various design aesthetics suitable for all styles of outdoor living rooms.
